New Valentine Editions

Printed Matter is pleased to announce special silk-screened valentines by David Sandlin. Commissioned as a fundraiser for Printed Matter, the valentines are printed as signed and numbered editions of 50 in two different designs. Both designs are available for $30 each and can be purchased in store and online.

The Love and Lust Valentine features a series of personified hearts, whose visages morph into manifestations of their passionate, tender, and committed states of mind. The heart-shaped faces also figure in the Seasons of Our Hearts valentine, where they go through the cyclical climates of a renewing entanglement. Both cards are hand-silkscreened by the artist and printed on 100% rag paper in four colors, including a glow-in-the-dark ink for intimate viewing conditions. The only thing harder than choosing between the two designs is choosing who deserves to receive one this Valentine's Day!

David Sandlin is the creator of numerous artist's books, many of which are available through Printed Matter, including I'm a Fan of Sin, The Avengelist, and Train of Heartache. Born in Ireland and baptized by the American South as a teenager, Sandlin's paintings, drawings, and prints draw from a wide-range of references including, religious iconography, alternative visual culture and capitalist conventions. He currently lives and works on the Lower East Side and teaches at SVA.
