Printed Matter Announces 3 New Fundraising Editions:
Untitled (Fold) by Tauba Auerbach,
Stress Producer by Justin Lieberman,
Untitled (Little Seymour) by Gareth Long,
Printed Matter is pleased to announce 3 new, economically-priced fundraising editions by Tauba Auerbach, Justin Lieberman, and Gareth Long. Sales of these works help support Printed Matter's distribution of over 15,000 titles by 5,000 artists as well as a wide-range of programming and outreach related to artists' publications.
Tauba Auerbach's Untitled (Fold), a visual cacophony of purple and yellow gridded dots, an ingenious optical illusion suggesting a piece of paper that has been folded into sixteen segments. Income from this edition will be used towards Tauba's new book, an ingenious pop-up extravaganza that breaks new ground in pop-up technology. The signed and numbered silkscreen print in an edition of 150 may be ordered here for $150.
Justin Lieberman's Stress Producer, in an edition of 100, is a cleverly succinct assessment of the news-dominating financial crisis using customized office supplies: a squishy stress-relieving earth ball printed with Lieberman's initials and a paper binding clip hand-painted with a (capitalist) pig, which is clipped to the ball in an endless, merciless squeeze. Buy it here for $100.
And Gareth Long's Untitled (Little Seymour) lenticular print is based on the colored stripes that appear in the upper left-hand corner of J.D. Salinger's ubiquitous mass market paperbacks. Long incorporates this symbol, and its association with the fictional Glass family, into a lenticular print whose diagonal stripes expand and contract as the viewer's position changes. The signed and numbered edition of 20 is available here at a price of $175.
Our other recent multiples produced on the occasion of the 2009 NY Art Book Fair by Elmgreen and Dragset, Jutta Koether, and Mungo Thomson are still available in limited quantities.
