Printed Matter, Inc. Presents

Tom Banjo''s Warehouse Sale

Wednesday, March 9 - Saturday March 12, 2005

Opening Night Benefit Wednesday March 9, from 5 to 9 PM

Printed Matter is throwing open the doors to our storage space and inviting the public in! Come join us as we unearth hidden treasures from Printed Matter''s history! Pore over thousands of artists'' publications we simply have not had the shelf space to display until now! Buy books and multiples at discounts of up to 80%! Tickets to the opening reception, which will feature artist/DJs spinning records, will be $10. A deluxe $75 ticket includes a special limited edition print by Printed Matter enthusiast Ryan McGinness – while quantities last. The warehouse sale will be free and open to the public Thursday through Saturday and Printed Matter is pleased to present a special performance by veteran Vermont banjo player and populist artist Tom Banjo on Friday evening at 5 PM.

Printed Matter is almost thirty years old, and over the years we have collected more work than we have room to house; our shelves, closets and cabinets are literally bursting with artists'' books and multiples. For four exciting days this great bounty will spill out of storage boxes and onto tables lining the fifth floor of 535 West 22nd Street. Thousands of small, hand-made artists'' books; classic periodicals like Bomb, Heresies, New Observations, and ZG; artists'' records, tapes, videotapes, cards, and ''zines; early work published by Printed Matter; current publications and much more will be on sale at irresistibly discounted prices.

The opening night of the Warehouse Sale is a benefit for Printed Matter, Inc. Ryan McGinness, whose work sprawled across the walls of Printed Matter earlier this year, has produced a silk screened print in an edition of 50 especially for the occasion. DJs Justin Lowe, Peter Coffin, Bob Nickas, and Rose Kallal will be spinning an eclectic and spirited mix of records until 9PM. And be sure not to miss the Warehouse Sale’s guest host, Tom Banjo, who will treat visitors to traditional folk music and his "Cranky Show", a hand cranked moving picture, illustrated and narrated by Tom, on Friday, March 11th at 5 PM.
