Leandro Katz S(h)elf Portrait Buenos Aires, Argentina: Viper's Tongue Books. 2008
Synopsis: The subject of Leandro Katz's S(h)elf Portrait is a small work area whose main feature is a wall mounted pay telephone. Photographed over a period of time, the space undergoes a series of changes dictated by natural shifts in daylight as well as by human intervention with the addition and subtraction of various office supplies and personal objects. If these images provide a portrait of the fleetingly present inhabitant, as the title suggests, then he is in a constant state of flux and self-examination, as many of the photographs are images of themselves. Compiled in 2008, the photographs were originally taken in New York in 1972.
