Shana Lutker
Split Paper
Los Angeles, CA: S. Lutker. 2004
Synopsis: Using oversized ink blots and selective hand lettering, Shana Lutker has created a version of the New York Times that presents almost none of the news that's fit to print. What it does present is an altogether subjective kind of newspaper. Giant black and white Rorschach test blots take over the first section of the paper entirely. In the second section fragments of headlines (or what seem to be headlines) cluster around the center of each otherwise utterly blank page forming sensational tabloid poems. Make of this news what you will.
