Heartbreak Diet Katie Cercone
Brooklyn, NY: K. Cercone. 2008
"Trio of Hellvete, Edgar Wappenhalter, and Bart Sloow (Sloow Tapes) noodling acoustic-status across seven tracks of guitar warble/strum, which keeps pretty constant while muffled vocals, electric guitar, keyboard and drum fluctuate. Late-night incantations like we’ve come to expect, but the occult/paranormal energy of their other collaborations is replaced with more youthful romance and sexual charm/tease." --from the label
Desert Storm Songs is a mix tape consisting of 22 tracks that accompanied U.S. soldiers in the Persian Gulf from August 1990 to February 1991. The songs were blasted from humvees and helicopters, played on military radio, and brought in on the troops' own mix tapes. Travis Diehl's project is located at a particular intersection of military, cultural, and technological histories. Each cassette comes with a fold-out insert silkscreened by the artist.
