Printed Matter, Inc. has an open submission policy. We are interested in artists' publications that are "democratizing" artworks - that is, inexpensive and produced in larger editions or open editions. Generally speaking, we prefer editions of over 100. While the bulk of our stock is artists' books, we also consider some other artists' publications such as books of artists' writings, artists' magazines, zines, audio, DVDs and computer works.
We do not normally consider exhibition catalogues, art criticism, art history, illustrated poetry, literary magazines, T-shirts, loose postcards, multiples or posters.
Printed Matter is selective in the works we accept. We regret that we cannot carry every title that is submitted to us.
Printed Matter will only consider books that have already been published.
Please submit only one copy per title for consideration. Do not submit mock-ups, dummies, or prototypes. Printed Matter cannot be held accountable for lost or damaged submissions.

No additional supporting materials are necessary. Printed Matter considers publications on their own strengths rather than on outside information.
Notification of acceptance will be made by email. If your book is not accepted, we will donate it to a local educational institution. If you prefer your book to be returned to you, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Printed Matter is unable to hold books for later pick-up.
